Square Fittings

Square balustrade is a popular alternative to round tube. Many of our customers prefer the modern and stylish look of square posts and components. Here at Origin we have the complete range of square posts and components to complete your square balustrade.

The starting point of any square balustrade are our square stainless steel posts. The square balustrade posts are made from 40m x 40mm stainless steel tube. All of the components are then designed to fix the 40mm x 40mm stainless steel tube. We can supply the 40mm x 40mm stainless steel square tube for you to fabricate yourself. Alternatively, we can supply fabricated square stainless steel tube for you to fabricate a square stainless steel post to your exact dimensions. This includes drilling and tapping the holes in the square stainless steel post.

When fabricating your square stainless steel posts, they should be supported by a square base plate. Here at Origin, we stock two different types of square base plate. The first is a weld on square base plate. We can either weld the square base plate to the square post for you or you can arrange for this to be welded yourself. The second is a square base flange. This is a square base plate with square flange to support the square post. The square post can be glued to the square flange. Both the weldable square base plate and square base flange can be covered with our 40mm x 40mm square cover plate. The outside dimensions of the stainless steel square cover plate are 108mm square.

We have a wide range of square handrail brackets to fit into a square stainless steel post. They can support both a square handrail and a 42mm diameter circular handrail. Our square handrail brackets have saddles that are both 180 degrees (for square end and square mid posts) and 90 degrees (for square corner posts). Our square handrail brackets are predominantly sold in grade 316 for outside use. This prevents them from discolouring and pitting.

Depending on how you want to finish your handrail, we also stock 40m x 40mm square wall flanges and 40mm x 40mm square end caps. The square stainless steel wall flanges can be fitted directly to the wall with 4 x M5 grub screws. Connecting your handrail to the wall using our square handrail , will substantially improve the structural integrity of your balustrade. The 40mm x 40mm square end caps can be fitted to the end of the square handrail by using a loctite glue.
