{"title":"Glass Adapters","description":"\u003cspan data-sheets-root=\"1\"\u003eWe have a wide range of glass adapters (also known as point fixings) and glass balustrade fittings to secure glass in any number of settings. \u003c\/span\u003e Be it an internal staircase, a Juliet balcony or a frameless balustrade, glass adapters are a safe and stylish way to secure glass to the wall.\n\nGlass adapters or point fixings are essentially large stainless steel bolts with a thread through the bolt. The glass is supplied with pre drilled holes and the glass adapter is then used to secure the glass panel to the wall.\n\nGlass adapters or point fixings are also sometimes given a third name (!) – stand offs! This is because glass adapters or point fixings are supplied with back plates which allow the glass to “stand off” the wall. Our glass adapters or point fixings are supplied with a variety of thicknesses of back plate. Our glass adapters or point fixings have back plates which are 10mm, 20mm. 30mm, 50mm or 100mm in thickness. The reason we supply our point fixings or glass adapters with a variety of back plates, is usually because there is a need to clear an obstacle attached to the wall such as a ledge or window sill.\n\nIt is important that you ensure that your glass is manufactured to the correct spec when you are planning to use glass adapters or point fixings. As a rule of thumb we recommend that 6 point fixings or glass adapters are used for a 1.4m panel of glass. The diameter of the hole in the glass for our point fixings or glass adapters that have a 50mm diameter head is 26mm. You should also ensure that you use the correct glass thickness. If you are using point fixings or glass adapters and are not having a handrail, you will almost always be required to use a laminate glass.\n\nWe can offer a variety of different threads dependent on the type of material that you are fixing your glass adapter or point fixing to. Glass adapters or point fixings are often used to fix glass panels to timber stair stringers. Our duel threaded M8 and M10 fixings are threaded at one end, allowing you to fix the point fixing or glass adapter directly into timber.
